Becoming a Mother: What a YEAR!

We made it!

The first year of my first child is now one for the books. And yes, it flew by just as all of you said it would! The first couple months were about survival, then we hit the 6-month mark, when things started getting easier, and the last half of the year I actually felt like I knew what I was doing.

Becoming a Mother: 6 Months Later

Welcome to the 2nd half of the first year!

Wow! It’s been 6 months already, and I can hardly believe it! My LO (little one, in mommy world) is 6 months old, and oh how life has changed since I wrote Becoming a Mother: What They Don’t Tell YouContinue reading

Becoming a Mother: What They Don’t Tell You

Welcome to Motherhood!

After traveling around the world in my 20’s and 30’s, I am now a first-time mom in my 40’s. I was a teacher for many years and have seen all my friends get married and have children of their own, so I’m no stranger to being around kids. When I finally got pregnant, I knew what was coming – but I honestly wasn’t prepared for the reality of it all. And 7 weeks in with my precious, newborn daughter, I’ve discovered one thing:

2016: The Year of HOPE

I haven’t blogged anything personal in quite some time… in fact, I’ve made a conscious effort not to. Sometimes when we’re going through painful and extremely personal moments, the easiest thing is to keep it inside. Not share it. And that’s where I’ve been. Almost 5 years have passed, and we are no closer today than we were then…..

My Star Wars Wedding Bliss Moment

I always dreamed that when I got married, I would have this awesome, glorious Star Wars moment. Storm troopers doing a special wedding dance. Vader making a wedding toast. My friends and family giving a Star Was tribute. But none of that happened. In fact, I married a guy who had NEVER even seen Star Wars until I came along. (Image that?!?) So, needless to say, my huge Star Wars wedding moments weren’t on the top of his list for our wedding.  Continue reading

The Problem with the “ME” Mentality

By now we’ve all been informed to some capacity of ISIS and their take-over inside the world of terrorism. We’ve seen the beheading videos, we’ve commenting how sick they are, and we might have even shared a post about how disgusted we are. But here is where is ends. After all, we’re not going to get on a plane and fight them ourselves! We’ve got our own problems. That’s a Middle East problem!

But it’s not. Continue reading

Yes, I’m staying here…

It’s been an emotional, heart-wrenching three weeks here in Israel. The Kidnapping and Murder of 3 Israeli Teenagers. A Retaliating Murder of a Palestinian Teenager. An uproar within the Palestinian Community, leading to Hamas sending Rockets. Iron Dome Intercepts. And more Rockets. Iron Dome Intercepts. And more Rockets. Iron Dome Intercepts…. Continue reading
